Before you decide on a daily skin care regime you must find out your skin type. But remember skin can change when pregnant or generally when getting older, or even from season to season.

Oily skin.

Skin is shiny; has enlarged pores; is prone to acne & blackheads; produces excessive sebum.

Dry skin

Skin may flake & chap; produces low level of sebum; feels taut after washing; has a translucent thin appearance; may feel tight.

Combination skin

Skin has more than 1 skin type; is oily in the T-zone but cheeks are dry; has enlarged pores in T-zone.

Sensitive skin

Skin is dry & delicate; is often allergic to detergents, some cosmetics and changes in temperature; can be red & blotchy.

Normal skin

Skin is smooth & even; has healthy & bright appearance; has no visible problems.


There are other skin care products made for specific maladies such as eczema, hives, and rashes which are commonly called curative creams. There are also many specialty skin creams that are used for areas like around the eyes and corners of the mouth. These are usually collagen supplements or anti wrinkle creams.
